In 2009, Look approached 360 to redesign its mountain bike range, which was then made up of disparate parts. The proposed concept was to optimize the interaction between the components by creating an integrated stem, giving birth to a new archetype.
Inspired by the animal nature of the bicycle and its connection to the horse, we first worked on the stem to create a strong visual signature. After several mockups, a functional system emerged.
The main challenge was to design an adjustable stem aligned with the frame, a solution achieved thanks to an idea from Look's design office: a reversible half-moon mechanism available in three sizes.
For a year, Look and 360 refined every detail. The 986 model, the result of this collaboration, marks a breakthrough in bicycle design, winning awards from the Observer du Design and the IF / Eurobike Design Award.
